If your teeth are healthy but aesthetically displeasing, a complete smile makeover can give you a dramatic boost to your self-confidence. It is a dramatic step, though, so it is important to dedicate time and energy to designing and planning all the details.

Perfect or Natural?

You might be dreaming of the “perfect smile,” but this is not typically the best choice. Teeth that are too straight, too white, and too perfect tend to look fake. If you are certain that this is the smile you want, you may need facial cosmetic surgery to support it.

We recommend that you instead focus on the “natural smile” that is perfect for you. Although it is straighter, whiter, and more perfect than your current smile, it is designed to be uniquely yours. Though it is stunning, it fits you, not a game show host or an abstract geometric concept.

We will work together to select the exact size, shape, and color of each individual tooth, taking into account such factors as the problems with your existing smile, the current spacing and alignment of your teeth, and your features and coloring. If you have any existing oral health problems, such as tooth decay or gum disease, we must fix those first.

Photographic Inspiration

It is always easier to create a design when we have a starting point. Bring in photos of your childhood smile, as well as smiles that you truly love. Be prepared to discuss what you like and don’t like about each smile, as well as additional smile quirks you might want, such as slightly pointed canine teeth or a small gap between the front teeth.

Digital Smile Design

Once we have a basic understanding of the type of smile you are considering, we will take photos and digital impressions of your existing smile. Using CAD (computer aided design) technology, we will create a 3-D model of your smile and morph it into your projected new smile. We will then adjust it until you truly love it.

Next, we will build a wax mockup of your new smile. This helps us ensure that it is as functional as it is aesthetic, and it provides you with the opportunity to make further changes. We will not start working on your teeth until we all agree that the wax model is just right.

Please note that a complete smile makeover is a big investment. We may need to perform several different procedures with healing time in between. A full smile makeover could take a month or more from start from to finish, but if you are ready for the smile you have always envisioned, we are confident you will find the results to be worth the wait.
